In its classic form, practically not - the right waves do not exist. Balance on the board can still be practised on flat water, on a lake, as a coordination game.

The dog stands on the board and rides the wave - alone or together with you. Duration, control and style are scored, and the atmosphere is the most relaxed in all of dog sport.
About the discipline
What Surf Dog is
Surf dog was born in California and has stayed, in essence, a beach sport: the dog stands on a surfboard and rides small waves, with a life jacket compulsory throughout.
Competitions score time on the board, control, wave size and style. There are also tandem categories, where dog and handler surf the same board.
It is more a recreational activity than a performance sport, and in Romania the absence of suitable waves makes it practically impossible in its classic form.

Is it safe?
With a life jacket, small waves and constant supervision, yes. Without a jacket, no - any dog can be taken by a wave.
How do I know if my dog enjoys it?
A dog that is enjoying itself climbs onto the board by itself and stays there. If it gets off, tenses up or avoids the water, the activity does not suit it and you do not insist.
