Do the single-phase trials award a title?
No. FPr, UPr, SPr and GPr are not considered working titles for shows, breeding or the breed survey; the result is still entered in the scorebook.
FCI-IGP trial
The FCI-IGP regulations allow each phase of the IGP trial to be taken on its own: FPr (Fährtenprüfung, tracking), UPr (Unterordnungsprüfung, obedience), SPr (Schutzdienstprüfung, protection) and GPr (Gebrauchshundprüfung, obedience plus protection). They are taken at level 1, 2 or 3 of the handler's choice, under exactly the same rules as the corresponding IGP phase, but do not award a working title: they are verification and training trials under official conditions.
They are phases A, B and C of the IGP trial, taken one at a time. FPr 1-3 is phase A (tracking) of the corresponding IGP level, UPr 1-3 is phase B (obedience), SPr 1-3 is phase C (protection), and GPr 1-3 are phases B and C together, without tracking. Rules, exercises and points are identical to the IGP; the only difference is that the result is not a title in the sense of show requirements, breeding regulations or the breed survey.
Their use is practical: a team not yet ready for all three phases can check one in front of a judge, or rehearse level-2 obedience before entering the full IGP 2.
| Trial | IGP phase | Points | Minimum age |
|---|---|---|---|
| FPr 1-3 | A - tracking (300/400/600 paces, 3 articles) | 100 | 15 months |
| UPr 1-3 | B - obedience (the level's IGP routine) | 100 | 15 months |
| SPr 1-3 | C - protection (the level's IGP exercises) | 100 | 18 months |
| GPr 1-3 | B + C - obedience and protection | 200 | 18 months |

FPr, UPr and SPr are scored out of 100, passing from 70; GPr out of 200, passing from 140. Ratings follow the same FCI scale. The result is entered in the scorebook, but not as a title.
| Rating | Share of points | Out of 100 | Out of 300 (IGP 1-3) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Excellent | 96-100% | 96-100 | 286-300 |
| Very good | 90-95% | 90-95 | 270-285 |
| Good | 80-89% | 80-89 | 240-269 |
| Satisfactory | 70-79% | 70-79 | 210-239 |
| Insufficient | below 70% | 0-69 | 0-209 |
For our teams FPr is the most interesting one: an official IGP track without the obedience and protection obligation, a natural step for a dog that already works scent. UPr is a good intermediate test after the advanced training course.
The figures on this page come from the documents below; on trial day the text of the regulations is what counts.
Questions and answers
No. FPr, UPr, SPr and GPr are not considered working titles for shows, breeding or the breed survey; the result is still entered in the scorebook.
Yes. The level is chosen freely; the only prerequisite is a passed BH.
No. Events with only phase C are not permitted; SPr is taken alongside a trial with at least four participants in BH, IGP or IFH.
FPr is the tracking phase of the IGP (300-600 paces, 20-60 minutes old); IFH is the dedicated tracking trial, much longer and older (800-1,800 paces, 90-180 minutes), which awards a title.
Every FCI-IGP trial starts from the companion dog test. We prepare teams for it and guide them onwards.
