Mantrailing Workshop 4-7 September 2025 in Bucharest
The "Drumetii Montane" Association invites you to the first intensive workshop of the Mantrailing.ro project – Mission of the Canine Friends, which will take place in Bucharest and Ilfov between September 4–7th, 2025.
This event is dedicated to individuals who practice or wish to learn more about mantrailing.
Instructors from Hungary, members of the Debreceni Mantrailing és Kutyás Egyesület Association, with extensive experience in mantrailing, will participate at this workshop.
During the workshop, there will be people available to translate from Hungarian to Romanian and vice versa, as well as from English to Romanian and vice versa. It is important to check the language(s) you speak in the registration form.
In a world increasingly exposed to natural risks and human-made disasters, the ability to respond quickly and efficiently can mean the difference between life and death. In this context, rescue dogs are an invaluable ally for intervention teams, and Romania urgently needs to expand and strengthen these specialized canine resources.
Unlike traditional search methods, a mantrailing dog can follow an old scent trail — even one that is several hours or days old — over long distances and in various environments, such as cities, forests, mountains, or rural areas. This significantly reduces the effort of search teams and increases the chances of saving a life before it’s too late.
Mantrailing involves following a scent trail left by a person, and every success in this process is rewarded through positive reinforcement techniques. This approach ensures a pleasant and motivating experience for the dog, encouraging it to enjoy the activity and develop its natural abilities. It is a sport accessible to any dog, regardless of breed, age, or training level, demonstrating that every dog has the potential to become a search dog.
Participating in mantrailing means adrenaline, joy, and the satisfaction of shared success.
It is a unique way to stimulate and maintain physical and mental activity — for both the dog and the handler. Additionally, mantrailing creates opportunities for socializing and collaboration among people who share a passion for dogs and sport.
The workshop agenda will be posted closer to the event date and will be adapted based on the number of participants and their training levels.
Event Schedule:
● September 4th, 2025: Theoretical/Practical Workshop
● September 5 th, 2025: Theoretical/Practical Workshop
● September 6 th, 2025: Theoretical/Practical Workshop
● September 7 th, 2025: Exams – Levels K9-MT1, K9-MT2, K9-MT3, K9-MT4
During the workshop, participants will be divided into groups and each dog-handler team will work individually, while the other dogs will remain calmly in crates inside the cars.

Workshop spots are limited and will be allocated in the order of confirmation.
The deadline for registration and confirmation is June 15th, 2025, at 23:00.
